Arcticus means "North of the Great Bear" referring to being near or north of the Ursa Major constellation of the Northern Skies. In Canada, Arctic Grayling (Thymallus arcticus) can be found in their native range. Their infamous sails (dorsal fins) beautifully capture the colours of the North. While their beauty can only be truly appreciated in person and in the water, this piece tries to capture some of this magic. This piece is inspired by the Arctic, the purple skies of Saskatchewan, and this special fish that glacier left behind. Original digitally painted at 16" x 24".
