"Remembering the colours of cutthroat"
 
This painting was an experiment to recall colours of cutthroat trout and paint them on canvas in many sessions and layers until a cutthroat appeared. This approach was a crossover between my abstract expressionism and more realistic illustration approaches and I couldn't be more happy with the results! These colours bring me so much joy, and bring back fond memories of these beautiful little fish. I channelled my memories of fishing for Westslope Cutthroat in the Blackfoot River and Flathead Rivers of Montana, but I hope this painting reminds you of your own cutthroat memories.
